we were sitting in the processing line one night for an ORE and the cops were processing with us. the cops kept shouting HUA!! AIRFORCE!! so naturally as maintainers we couldn’t help but make fun of them and came up with our own catch phrase which is ZOOM!!! AIRFORCE!!!!!
needless to say the cops shut up and we kept going with it for the rest of the ORE we also figured it would be a good ad on tv such as “you can be stuck flipping burgers or you can ZOOM!!! AIRFORCE!!!”
p.s. it came with a little hand gesture like a plane flying into the sky

I think I’ll stick with “Data.” I suppose technically the generator qualifies for the rule that it only counts as a callsign if it’s given to you by others, but somehow I’d say it only really, really counts if it comes from people who actually more or less know you… (Mine came from the directing staff on my Military Occupational Course).
And am I the only person who liked Red Flag: The Ultimate Game better than Top Gun? Okay, check that, am I the only person who remembers Red Flag: The Ultimate Game? I’ve only seen it once, but I remember the main things it had going for it were a less annoying (to me, at least…my apologies to anyone who doesn’t find Maverick at least somewhat annoying) lead character, more realistic flying scenes and some nice background plane-spotting in certain scenes (the F-4 Phantom II and F-5E Tiger II -”playing” itself, not being passed off as a MiG- took center stage, but F-15s and at least one F-16 could be seen in the background). Besides, it was Air Force, not Navy…
But Top Gun was still a great movie…
