I drew this comic a long time ago, but never used it. I do that a lot – in fact I probably have at least 100 strips you’ve never seen because I think they suck – but I liked this one, so I redrew it. It’s classic Barbie, in my opinion.
You all know how much I love to make fun of AAFES. Usually, it’s pretty easy – I just go into a BX or something, have an unpleasant experience and make a comic about it. Yesterday, I went to the BX, but this time the material it provided me with was just too easy. It’s almost not even fair.

ROFLMAO!!! Yep, AAFES does it again! (IMHO)
click on the picture, and you will get it!!!!
From one of my secret sources, and in IMHO for both of us:
“You have no idea how often that happens when the alert drops for manual price changes and then someone does an HQ download with the same price. Serious FAIL.”
So basically, someone got alerted that the price needed to be changed, so they manually changed it, and then someone else got a different notice with the new price, and so lowered the price from the new price to the same new price? Heh.
Those are important things to learn.
AAFES Fail. Isn’t that brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department?
I hope you pointed that out to someone in the store. Some folks in managements actually care about stuff like that.
Hey Farva,
What the limit on UAV’s, I mean UAS, I mean RPA’s, damn, I wish the Air Force would figure out what to call these Nintendo aircraft
The proper term is UAS although the UAV_LNO out here at the CAOC still has not been officially been changed to UAS LNO…..I work with the things everyday and hate every minute of it!
Actually the official term is RPA
Actually-actually it depends on the size (sts) RPA vs UAS. Think small=UAS big=RPA
UAS refers to the entire system (Mission Control Element, etc), RPA is the actual aircraft.
The “official” term varies by where/who you ask. The USAF has gone to RPA, the Joint community is sticking to UAS. I think we should all just get along and call them drones.
“These are not the drones you are looking for”
Just goes to prove that AAFES isn’t out to save military members money
The AAFES fail gave all the guys out here in the desert a good laugh Farva good stuff!
Also I have a funny UAV story I wish I could tell everyone on here that Dahl would love but unfortunately I’m cant due to the sensitivity of it…….
AGM-114 Hellfire > 12 Gauge
Not if the 12 guage knocks him down before he fires the Hellfire. >:D
Pretty sure the Hellfire has a longer range than the 12 gauge…
Nice. Classic Dahl.
By the way, I really enjoyed your latest Box D Blues. Great example of how to use Facebook in an official way, and a perfect example of what an Opsec nightmare this is…
Of course he could have just as easily posted it from home so ..whatever
*stares at photo*
…………… Wow. AAFES never ceases to amaze me. And not in the good way, either. That is all I have to say on that.
Classic Dahl! I miss his arrogant Predator-hating. I always wondered when this time would come. Not “if”, of course. But rather, “when”. >_>
Any bets that tomorrow it will be $5.97?
The AAFES out here in Misawa had a good one when they were selling Mr. Potato heads, the price tag stated Mr. Potato Head ass.
That gave me a good laugh.
**lmao** Awesome AAFES pic. But what the hell is an iLuv? New type of rubber for an iPod?
Uh oh. Trap shooting drones. Oooooooooh, that gives me an idea for a flash game involving Barbie.
Too bad I don’t have the skills to make one. Anyone up for that challenge?
Ohh!! I’ll beta test!!
Hey! I am a Beta! and have suggested to Farva to check out my Bro’s millionaire site..
www dot kewlbox dot com
anyone remember bowling elf’s and others?
yeah, moderation waiting
http://www.kewlbox.com
I can just see Hound176′s idea in play!
wow! no moderation! must be a kewl link! (it really is)
I googled ILuv. evidently they make all kinds of iPod accessories.
I don’t have those types of computer skills, but I know just the guy for the job! I will get back to you on that.
What the heck? This was supposed to go under Hound176. Sorry.
to err is human. It takes a computer to really f*ck things up.
WAIT! computers fly UAS/UAV/RPA’s, whatever.
12 guage still effective tho.
wormholed again!
Ooh! Make it like Duck Hunt, and whenever you fail to hit a drone, R.C. pops up from the grass to snicker at you.
And the shooter in question is Barbie with his 12 gauge and pot helment! **lol**
Again, I love saying “816 ASS Jugs o’ Fun” – don’t you?
that’s even better than the $19.99 clearance from $20.00 that I saw a few years ago.
Loved the comic as always but am going to have to share the pic, classic!
AAFES experience of the day: I asked for a larger plastic bag and was told no, it’s store policy to use the smallest bag possible for the items purchased at Military Clothing. “I lose money” was her best quote in the conversation. I’ll be interested in what the General Manager says store policy is when I call tomorrow…especially when customer service gave me a larger bag when I went back there to ask for the GM’s number.
Love the way Barbie copies Full Metal Jacket helmet style. IMHO
(IMHO)
is that a pack of smokes on Barbie’s old helmet?
and a poke to B.O.
who you double IHMO disclaimering against?
But, I do see your new gravatar is eyes left, but too late for eyes up.
c/Maj McClure.. perfect OMG stare at coinforce.
*sigh to self* IMHO.
Glad we quit the spelchek call outs.
I think thats a bottle of gun oil, or water.
Might also be a bottle of bug repellent. that was common to carry there in Vietnam, or at least portrayed that way in the movies.
I got one better. I just wish my sister still had the picture she took.
Wal-Mart had a price reduction it was something as fallows. Was $7.85 Now $8.25.
I have to put up with the highly acclaimed(POS) KMCC. I went there yesterday to deposite some money and grab a sandwich. There were no less than 6 screaming/crying toddlers. One of which was flailing himself on the floor throwing a fit. The mom just sat there smiling. When my daughter tried to throw fits I very quickly took care of it. It happened no more than 4 times before she got the picture that that behavior was unacceptable.
I could go on and on… but there is a whole FB group dedicated to it here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=370179990057&ref=search&sid=1604900771.230711539..1
Love the AAFES pic Farva and of course the comic too! The only thing I think Barbie is missing from his helmet is an “Ace of Spades” lol….and hopefully that isn’t an ArmorSource helmet either
Imagine…there are actually customers that DON’T see that and will buy it simply because it says “CLEARANCE”.
If all they’re checking for before buying something is whether it says Clearance or not, that’s customer fail, not AAFES fail. They should buy it because A) They want/need it, and B) Because the PRICE is acceptable, not because it’s supposedly a clearance price.
Funny… Not even an ACH for Dahl. Just an old ‘steel pot’ that he probably picked up at some surplus store. Good attention to detail, Farva. Ha, ha, ha. (How come you also know Army too?)
HAHA, That was awesome. UNTIL NOW you could get this piece of shit for $5.97… But now, thanks to a shipping error, you can own it for the low clearance price of ……….. $5.97!!!!! Hurry! Supplies are limited!
I love how Barbie’s eyebrows are over his helmet. So awesome.
Just caught a read of an article that Barbie would enjoy so I thought I’d share:
http://www.airspacemag.com/military-aviation/The-Last-Gunslinger.html?c=y&page=1
A paintball gun would be fun. No real damage, but makes enough of a mess to piss people off . . .
Coming from 10 years paintball experience, i know this first hand. but it sure would be fun to see Babie and the others in a paintball war.
*Barbie, sorry.
I think Barbie took his inspiration from Dos Gringos’ “Predator Eulogy”. I would love to join barbie and shoot down some predators too.
I also like Barbie’s full metal jacket helmet
Something happens and I’m head over heels…
What does RPA stand for? Role Playing Aircraft?
Hah…good one. I got lucky, STS, at AAFES once. I was buying ceiling fans for my house and the sticker said 59.99 but there was a tag on the actual fan that said 49.99. So I brought it up to customer service and they reduced the price for me. I bought the last two fans and they work great!
Farva: Oh by the way, Jeff Goldblum is doing a play in London next month.
Hmmm… I mention the 816th yesterday (ok, so I said 819th originally) and it gets put up today… So, what could I mention today that would go up tomorrow….
Just off the top of my head, how many bases have skeet ranges are out near the runways?
