Since he is a Chief, reguardless of AFSC, he can be the NCOIC of ANY squadron. Barbie thought he was sick now, just wait until his commander introduces Barbie’s father as the squadron’s next Chief!
Poor Barbie…it was good while it lasted.
The possibilities are endless and I can’t WAIT to see where this goes…
I can see it Colonel Rowland: “I’d like to introduce Chief Dahl..” (low murmurs in the assembled troops “Wait, Dahl? Isn’t that Barbie’s last name?” or “Holy crap, its Barbie’s dad..” and the like). Hilarity will ensue with jokes about how far the apple really _can_ fall from the tree. Of course, Leia will be conducting the pre-brief for everybody in the squadron prior to Chief Dahl’s arrival…
T’would be funny if Barbie’s dad & his mom are divorced, and dad married some hot young(er) thing and all the guys in the squadron were lusting after “Barbie’s new mom.” That could be a substantial source of embarrassment for Barbie, and of course it would open up just tons of other possibilities.
(My parents are divorced, and every time my dad would start dating someone, after a few weeks/months we’d be introduced to dad’s new lady friend. Dad would wind up taking us to some event or dinner or something and my smart-ass brother would have commentary about this woman, and he’d never refer to her by name, he’d just call her “our new mom” which was a freaking crackup in and of itself. Once, we’re sitting at some event and my brother leans over to me and says “Our new mom wears too much perfume..” and it was all I could do not to shoot beer out my nose all over the people in front of us. There’s some story arc fodder for ya, Farva..)
No matter what, its gonna be a riot. And knowing how long a PCS move takes from orders to move-complete, this will be a Damocles sword hanging over Barbie for “months”
maybe it will be one of those two month (or less) notice things like we always seem to get.
As an E-9 crew chief, Chief Dahl will probably go to OSS as the chief of Maintenance Supervision. These are the guys who monitor the life-cycles of thousands of components on a fighter jet, and can ground the damn thing because it is not Cat 1 (ready to fly). Barbie is gonna get Cat 2/3′d from his own dad. Then he’s gonna beg like a bitch to get cleared up. Seen it happen… Pilot’s start to potentially lose that flight-pay, and the shit rolls downhill.
