When I made this comic, I was a few hours away from having to wake up and drive to Dover. I can barely keep my eyes open, so I grabbed the comic from May 21 and just changed some words and the paper in the guy’s hand. Good enough for government workers making comics in their off-duty time, I think.
-Farva

Is that the “pre-second” time you’ve done that, Farva? (I can’t use the “f” word.. It gets me in trouble)
Yeah, I was 78 under the old scoring and 84 under the new. The only thing I maxed out was my waistline =)
Seriously though, my runs times are awesome for as fat as I am. 200lbs and 5’8″ and I can easily pull off a 11:30 with 10:30ish being my best official and 10:00 unofficial times. Nothing like seeing a short fat man run like the wind. In AF PT gear………………….EEWWWWWWWW! Hehe
Well I will see if this fat old man can still pass! My PT test is next week (Wed) and 40 is the only thing i have going for me (and I can max p/u & s/u). I scored 81 last time (6mo ago) but havent ran since.
Good luck on your test. I will be doing mine end of next month. It will be interesting to see if I make the 39″ waist measurement. Why the Air Force could not factor in creepage as people get older is beyond me…..
I’m just glad that someone finally put up last week’s Box D Blues. Hope you have a great time in Dover!
FIRST! to point out that NOT 100% of this comic was recycled!
You slacker, drop and give me 20
one hundred percent
recycled material
yes, thats straight up lazy
double haiku from you
At least I wasn’t too lazy to get the syllables right…
LOL Lay off all the man is entitled to do as he wishes… I believe this is his web-site… maybe it is his wife’s I don’t know for sure. But he is sure as hell allowed to be lazy once in a while. Take it from a maintainer, you just need a lazy do nothing fully and do everything halfa$$ed day once in a while.
Though it is recycled it is still hilarious. That being because I had the same issue, I passed my last PT Test and was told both scores… the new score was higher than the old score. HA HA HA Air Force You FAIL!!!
“Close Enough for Goverment Work”…Thats OK with Me
approved as requested. Plus, it totally fits in with the new AF “green” initiative. Great work.
Like a sign I saw spraypainted on the ATOC ramp in Baghdad yesterday… “It’s not just good, it’s good enough!” Drive safe man.
I don’t know how you do it, coming up with story lines and stuff. But, man, you need a break! I think we could handle a couple weeks without AF Blues so you can spend time with your family and you can recharge.
See… that part that will mess people up is the minimums… had someone test just yesterday with an overall score of 82, but failed because he cramped and didn’t hit the minimum situps (42 for < 30)
Well I personally think that the whole PT test is a joke–unfortunately I have a torn rotator cuff so doing the “minimum” is even out of the question for p/u’s. Doc wrote my profile and said “no running for more than 100 yds.” So it looks like all I will be doing is crunches and waist measurement.
If people are scoring better on the new standards, well, whats to be worried about?
Oh and Farva, keep up the good work – even if its recycled – your dedication to this and everything else you do is highly regarded and appreciated!
I think some people are “worried” because now there are minimums. I almost choked out an Lt one time cuz he said he could walk the run portion and pass because his waistline was like 20″ or something. Damn skinny people. And I think that having the HAWC admin the test was good idea as now fellow squadron members cant fudge the numbers for co-workers. Although using another squadron’s PTL’s would have worked just as well. But now you cant have your buddy add a few p/u’s to max out or count all those situps that didnt meet the standard. That integrity thing sucks sometimes………..
Higher scores on the new test definitely applies to me. It’s good to be 31 sometimes
Yea, depending on your components, it’s definitely possible to pick up 5-10 points with the new scales.
But, i must say i hate one thing….minimum score on new PT test, IS A FAIL!!! its like saying “aim high, but if you do, you still will fail” WTF? all i have to do is keep my knees from exploding and ill be golden!!!
It is weird, I scored a 95 on my last PT test, and I only did the max on my push-ups and crunches according to the old standard (the max is more on the new standard). I put in my numbers for the new standard and I scored a half a point higher…
awwww poor tired baby…….lol PT test is one thing I don’t miss in my retirement
