It IS a dry heat. And it beats the SHIT out of a humid heat.
I was recently TDY to Tyndall and 95 degrees with 90% humidity is FAR worse than 112 degrees (which is what we’ve been having recently) and 0% humidity.
Drowning in your own sweat while everything sticks to you is the worst… IMO
i have to agree with you and once it hits 100 at 0% humidity everything temperaturewise from there up feels the same i’ve been through a 122 degree summer and played golf its not so bad.
I also have to agree. My family and I went to Nevada a few summers ago, and I’d have sworn it was around 85 or so, then we saw a bank with the time/temp sign and it was 111. Couldn’t believe it. The whole ‘dry heat’ thing is a fact.
No kidding! I went to Keesler for tech school and having to march out in that heat in blues just got plain nasty! Imagine a bunch of airmen in their blues drenched in sweat front and back…that’s just disgusting!
LOL its kinda of like the “dry cold vs. wet cold” right? only thing is once it gets over or under a certain temperature there is no more wet either so hot that it all desipates or so cold it all falls to the ground or sticks to something. As far as keesler was there and its not that bad compared to some places. Funniest thing ever there is people wearing their parkas at 30 degrees…. thats like an average in the summer here in elmendork And marching and doing pushups in blues on black flag days in texas was worse.
It’s hotter than the summerweight BDU, but cooler than the ABU as long as there’s a little bit of a breeze (the cloth is less dense, so it breathes a little better. Not much, but a little)
My A/C finds a way to take a dump every year before summer, but it happens so slowly that by the time I realize it isn’t working any more, I’ve already spent most of the summer sweating my arse off.
lol had some tires blow in Montana… but yeah honestly was in mississippi and in texas and a couple of other places down south…. humidity never bothered me….. now get some 50 mile per hour winds and snow blasting your face at below 0 temperature and you know your alive… even if for a bit Yay Montana and Elmendork!
First thing to cross his mind…
But it is a dry heat………
So is an oven.

Its true, I was stationed @ Tyndall for over 5yrs the humidity is oppressive.
i have to agree with you and once it hits 100 at 0% humidity everything temperaturewise from there up feels the same i’ve been through a 122 degree summer and played golf its not so bad.
Dry heat is all fine and dandy until your own sweat compensates for the lack of humidity.

I beg to differ. I’d much happily trade this Vegas heat for southern Texas humidity any day.
I’ll gladly trade ya! hate the 100+ temps with an average of 60%+ humidity
Can’t give ya Texas, but I’ll trade you Alabama for your Vegas
i’ll give you southern texas humidity for that vegas heat
I’ll see your Alabama and raise you a cool mountain breeze from Washington =)
lol… Washington is always mild… never too hot or too cold…. sorry lived there for many years… other than the rain its not bad.
Member’s section update BEGs for a accompanying pinup… Just saying…
Agreed 110% Maybe something with a well placed cold coke can.
I suppose Nomex® flying suits would get a bit sticky.

You’re right…not much.
Between this comic and the one in the member’s section, poor Barbie is gonna need to call that number the finance guy gave him.
I concur. I’m in Alabama and it’s only been in the 80′s, 90′s, but every time you spend a minute outside, you end up needing to change your clothes.
Damned humidity…
(on another note, the heat caused me to have three blown tubes on my bicycle tire)
try driving over 1000 miles south to Biloxi when the AC in your car took a dump less than ten miles into your trip.
My A/C finds a way to take a dump every year before summer, but it happens so slowly that by the time I realize it isn’t working any more, I’ve already spent most of the summer sweating my arse off.
…ah, the joys of driving old sports cars…
I know what ya mean. the wife and I have an 83 Datsun 280ZX for a weekend car. sad thing is, that A/C is actually better than my 02 WRX.
lol had some tires blow in Montana… but yeah honestly was in mississippi and in texas and a couple of other places down south…. humidity never bothered me….. now get some 50 mile per hour winds and snow blasting your face at below 0 temperature and you know your alive… even if for a bit
Yay Montana and Elmendork!
WOOOOOOOOOO TO THE SISTER COMIC!
And. I’m getting really tired of this Kansas heat.
I’ve recently been stationed in Alaska and have my family in Seattle. What is this heat you speak of? Got another week then it’s off to sunny Nome.
Hmm…I should really become a member…
Yes. Yes you should.
Hah, once I got over the spending $$$ I don’t have too much of…
Awesome.
Ummm, between the two comics…I cant wait to see if Barbie is gonna make it outta Vegas “sane”
And without carpal tunnel…
i want to be a member, maybe i should do it this payday.
…so to speak…
I remember how hot it would get when I was at Sheppard. I loved that I didn’t have to pay utilities when I lived in base housing!!
Um… Giggity for the sister strip (STS)?
Cruel and Unusual punishment for Barbie!!!!!
Could his glasses get any bigger. LOL. Welcome to Vegas!!! It’s ONLY going to be 106 today….Woo Hoo.
the other day it was 102… ugh.. i feel for barbie.
It’s nice when it drops down to the 90s again. Although running outside in the heat and jumping in my 90 degree pool is awesome!
Well, I finally joined the members only area. I have only been readin the comics since AWACer. I figured it was time to start supportin. Great job!
Hm… I don’t have access to the member section, but I got the email and all.
Try now, but for the record, I think you registered the name Fuchs for your member’s account.
It’s gettin hot in here, so take off all your clothes……ntsntsntsnts……
Sorry I couldnt help it. Seeing “The Lady in Red” in the member’s section has me all hot and bothered…………
