This is absolutely something I can see AAFES selling. They’d order 200 of them for each of their clothing sales stores, and put them on the shelves where PT gear should be but never is.
Actually, I think that I saw that same shirt at MCSS here on Fort Meade. They just put up an area with service pride, Ed Hardy-like shirts. The only difference was I think it said wife instead of girlfriend. LOL
He should just do what every other man does. Just keep saying it whether he believes it or not. Because in the end (STS) if she’s happy, she’ll make him happy.
So you think I need more PT than you, since I wear a XXL shirt…. when I am a 6’5″ man who can’t fit in a XL shirt without looking ridiculous because of my chest size, even though I can still pass my test and out run a lot of the younger / smaller guys I work with? Not everyone is 5’6″ with a 32″ waist like the AF dreams about… but doesn’t mean we all can’t meet the standards.
True true… I’m 6’3″, 245 lbs., with a 56in chest and a 34″ waist, I run 10 miles a day. I make the “I fit the USAF picture perfect profile so well I’m a poster boy” look like a couch potato. My Lt. looked at me and said I needed to “get in shape or look at getting out” (seriously, he did) so I picked up one end of a power cart in front of him and asked him to check and see if the brake was sticking under it. He did a double take and walked away. Just cause your big doesn’t mean your fat.
It is because someone screwed up the sizes when they were creating the PT gear. I normally wear XL shirts because I hate my shirts being tight fighting. When I tried on the XL PT shirt it was to tight for my liking so I had to get the XXL shirt and the same goes for the shorts as well.
Well, the sizes were not scaled properly at all. I had to get a XXL shirt because L or XL was too tight-fitting. It’s silly. Same goes for the shorts too, aka “Daisy Dukes” as I called them lol.
They’ve actually managed to take care of those issues with the new crop of PT gear. I went from wearing a XXL short to wearing a L shorts. They’re a bit longer now, too.
The shorts are still too short. I’m with William. They may as well be daisy dukes. They leg opening sare way to big around too. I bet the majority of people could fit both legs through one opening.
As “The guy whose dad works for AAFES” (as I recently found out is one of my titles in my squadron), I feel the need to point out that AAFES has no control over what uniform items are in stock or how much they sell for. They get whatever the military decides they need. And I mention this while being aware that the only way I will ever own a PT sweat shirt is if I am willing to grease myself up to squeeze into an XS sized shirt and give up breathing while I do my cardio.
Currently, I am in a flight that requires a minimum of 80 on their monthly mock PT test, in order to escape “mandatory PT”… I wonder if I can get a breathing waiver if I squeeze into an XXS just because that was the only size AAFES had in stock for the past month… I like where this is going!
What color gym bag can you carry in uniform?
That’s right, they don’t have them at clothing sales OR the eXchange.
All they have here are multi-colored things at the eX or backpacks and laptop bags at clothing sales.
What torqued me off a bit the other day in clothing sales was that the new Navy digital camo uniform is about $20 cheaper than our ABUs. Methinks we’re getting reamed on pricing.
Speaking of stuff like that sweatshirt, my last base’s AAFES had oil wrestling and mud wrestling referee shirts in stock. **chuckle** Being the goof I am I had to get one.
The crazy thing about AAFES and PT gear is that not only are they lacking it in stores, but so are their suppliers. I ordered pants a month ago and they still haven’t shipped, despite being in stock when I ordered em.
They’d be lacking PT gear a lot less if AAFES would make it a controlled item till supply gets straightened out. I love going to the gym in my 3 sizes too big, all they had left pt gear and seeing a herd of retirees walk by in full pt gear. When did uniforms become spirit items?
Additionally… don’t you love how there’s enough 2,3,4 star general rank and chief’s rank in clothing sales for an entire squadron of just <1%-ers but there's one set of SSgt and Lt rank.
I have seen signs at clothing sales stating that the PT clothes are for military members only. I don’t know why anybody else would want to wear them when they don’t have to. They aren’t comfortable and they look hideous.
Right next to the “Colonel’s Wife” sweatshirt!
And the sand-colored maintainer badge t-shirts they sold at my last base (what, no CE badge T-shirts? We only run the freaking base
)
Its called the AIr Force, not the DOT…just kidding, we always need someone to plow the runways and taxiways
Wow, I hope they’re not actually *plowing* the runways. They’d just have to go back and fix them again.
Genius! Now if they’d only let us go focus on fixing the plowers, MAYBE we wouldn’t spend so much time fixing the runways, not to mention the plows???
And around here…they do indeed plow the runways…we cry each time.

That’s just the beginning of her turning into the “officer’s wife”. It’s only downhill from here.
but he still has yet to clarify the whole “love” thing
He should just do what every other man does. Just keep saying it whether he believes it or not. Because in the end (STS) if she’s happy, she’ll make him happy.
Are we going to have to explain to you about the birds and the weasels?
that was awesome
I shall dutifully pass this along to the proper subcompartment that handles misplaced mechandise.
Maybe Lana and Kelly should “hang out” some time. DADT is kinda gone and Lana is lookin to get laid. Just sayin……………
Wait, your BX doesn’t have PT gear…we have it here at Nellis…as long as you’re an XXL or XS…I don’t get why we need XXL shirts, but we have them
When you think about it, the XXL sized guys are probably the ones that need PT gear the most.
So you think I need more PT than you, since I wear a XXL shirt…. when I am a 6’5″ man who can’t fit in a XL shirt without looking ridiculous because of my chest size, even though I can still pass my test and out run a lot of the younger / smaller guys I work with? Hey you know? Make the most of a good thing. If you’re basically Zangief, work out more and become like, Super-Sayan Zangief!

Scrollover text FTW.
@Walter I can understand MAYBE being an XL, but if you’re an XXL something tells me you aren’t meeting the PT standards haha.

reminds me of….
You know how a fighter pilot is at your party?
His wife will tell you.

Maybe if you show up to PT in XXS PT gear, they’ll just ask you to stop coming, regardless of your score!
Sadly there is someone in my squadron that was like that. I don’t know how he managed getting the shorts on. I have to have breathing room.
That also reminds me of a comment in the AF Times about the PT clothes. It was something along the lines of retinas being burned.
I think i’d keep that sweatshirt around just to put it on anyone who passes out at my house.
or…. a dining out…
or… at work, if it’s just one of those slow days and some unwary airman conks out.

Have you seen the official Air Force Post Mission bottle openers?
Next thing you know she’ll be striking the pose with one hand on the hip and one in your face ” Do you KNOW who my boyfriend/husband is”

The issue where I’m at now is simply that they’re not getting stock in.
