So, are there any RC flyers here? I’ve got a new T-28D from Christmas I’d love to get airborne if the damned wind would die down a little. Lately it seems like if I’m off work and it’s daylight, there’s some kind of weather warning in place. Such is life in England, I guess.

Let me be the FIRST to say that’s an awesome UAV-joke. Never had an RC-plane though, only an RC formula 1 car.
The weather has just been poor the last few weeks. Is it spring yet?
Farva, have you taken your RC flyer out around RAF Feltwell? Seen a few break out and flying their RC planes on the old grass flightline.
What the Hell? is right!!! Mini F-22 RC UAS RPV, whatever!!!
I see this leading towards something about Badger Ops
I’m thinking something involving that UAV pilot who occasionally antagonizes/is antagonized by Barbie…
I just loved how that F-22 RC toy caught Barbie’s attention! It concerned him more than his girlfriend’s plans!!!
You should know by now, Farva, that there are two constants in englad…it is usually always windy, and usually always cloudy or rainy. Speant 3 years at Lakengrief myself and learned the hard way that if you wait for a “nice” day to do things, you won’t do anything
I had a T-28, decent flying, tolerates wind and fun to fly. There is a pretty good thread on mods and stuff on RC Universe.

Whoa, Barbie is wearing something other than his bag or his green shirt. I think Kelly is having a positive influence…
Used to help my granddad build R/C aerobatics, and even helped him with a 1/4-scale ultralight (whole plane weighed less than me!)
I’ve been thinking about getting into it, but there aren’t many airframes I’d want:
Stearman PT-17 (I /love/ that plane! Was checked out on one some years ago…)
A-10 Thunderbolt II (they make scale jet engines yet?)
SR-71 Blackbird (ditto. But, I’d paint mine bright orange as “psychological camouflage.” Who the Hell would believe a bright orange low-profile aircraft?)
Scale jet engines have been around a long time. They aren’t cheap though.
Ah, thanks. I didn’t know – all of the models I built with Pop were piston/prop jobs…
Ellsworth has “good weather warnings” because bad weather is a constant.
Used to have an AT-6 Texan with retractable gear and a big OS four stroke.. was my first “real” airframe after i moved off a high-wing cessna clone trainer (Aerostar 20). I loved that AT-6, then I crashed it. Really, really hard. After that I moved to helis.. I guess army just runs in the blood
I tend to keep my rc work squarly in 2 dimentions! (pun SO intended:P) Have a sweet backslash (traxxas slash into a buggy conversion) it must be almost done because i only have 2 more major stock components on the kit:P
Not quite in on the UAV joke, but I admit I giggled at “Marvin’s Shoes”.
Don’t worry, neither am I, LOL. It’s a setup for something bigger.
Is it wrong that I have an RC controlled Predator model?
not at all, after all the Air force has them, why shouldn’t you?
I’ve got an Air hog helicopter does that count?
You want the wind to stop blowing: buy a stunt kite.Works every time. Take the kite out of its bag, assemble the kite and: Voila, the wind stops.
I hope he runs in to RC (the uav pilot I think that’s his name) buying one oh man that would grind his gears.
Now I can really tell you’re in England…you used “what the hell” in a comic strip. I hear that phrase uttered from a Brit friend of mine at least 35 times a day.
I here ‘What the hell” all the time on campus up in in Northern MI. I don’t think the UK has a monopoly on the term.
Naw. If it’s “What the bloody hell?” THEN you’re in England.
Well, honestly, I build for others, but refuse to fly them. They make more than me….so. But we do have a real NASA A/nut, who comes to our horse farm to fly bunches of (strange) craft. Once, we caused a -minor- problem-…, as we are only a few creeks away from the U.S. Naval Academy…..much (fun?) that day!!! Love reading your posts, wish we had this in my time…GFAFB/ND 70-72
I’ve got a couple R/c planes back in Illinois at my old man’s place. Still haven’t got any up in AK yet.
Hmm. So I have one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EiytKhCmlM&feature=related Obviously, the next question is, do I get some really small 809th squadron markings?
