While we remember those who have fallen, let’s not forget those who have to carry on with the empty space created in their absence. They’re the ones feeling the pain.
Folks, I’ll have to ask you to forgive the simple nature of this strip. I had originally done one that focused on Security Forces, but when at the last minute I learned one the fallen was in fact a vehicle operator, I couldn’t post a comic that only seemed to honor one of the victims. This was what I had time to do.

Since I was asked, here’s the original:

RIP… and from me, with respect, Hooah.
Whether SF, LRS, or any other career field, We’re all one family and it always hurts to lose another sibling. My thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and unit members.
Never apologize for matching our thoughts, Farva. The fact that you take the time to honor our brothers is incredible.
RIP, brothers. I pray that the families find peace.
I second that one, Farva. No apologies required.
Agreed. The families, friends and coworkers of our lost in in our thoughts and prayers.
Well done. Or as the Navy sez – Bravo Zulu.
From a previous 2T1 troop, thanks Farva
Thank you, Farva. I think its simple nature is best in this case. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of those killed and wounded.
My first unit was with the 48th SFS, so this hits a bit close.
Proof that no matter what area in which they serve, where in the world they are, these brave men and women have volunteered to be at risk of making the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom and the freedom of those around the world. To all of those in uniform, I honor your sacrifice, something that I was not share with you, despite the desire.
Respect with Honor…Brothers in Arms we shall always be.
As others have said, the simplicity of this is what effectively carries the message. No need at all to apologize.
This was the first I’d heard of this tragedy. Today, regardless of the uniform that we put on, we are all brothers and sisters. Sepmer fi from this jarhead to all my Air Force brethren and sistren.
Farva, even the most simple thing you come up with is worth more than words to those we have lost and leave behind.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that give the most impact. Reverence for our fallen brothers doesn’t require complexity, just sincerity; and you nailed it.
RIP my brothers. We’ll miss you.
All I can say is Right On, bro! You nailed it!
I think it’s great. My mum is in Berlin atm, and she is the one that let me know it happened over the phone yesterday. Does anyone know their respective base stations?
Here is the press release from AF.MIL
http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123245189
One of the Airman went to high school a county away from I’m stationed now, so its local news. The other Airman is from my home state. So this one’s a little more impacting that most. Great strip, Farva; You always do the best memorial pieces, its just too bad you have to…..
Thanks Farva
From an old SP that used to be stationed at the same squadron as our fallen SP. =(
God Bless to the families of ALL our fallen brothers & Sisters.
Its bad enough when we loose an Airman, Soldier,Sailor, or Marine in combat. When we loose them from things like this it hit even harder. Never apologize for giving those that serve the respect they have earned.
Farva…this is a perfect tribute. Thank you. Thank you to my brothers in arms who paid the ultimate sacrifice. My thoughts and prayers are with their families…
Please don’t ever feel like you have to apologize for something like this. I’m an Army Officer and we all stand side by side with respect and honor. Farva well done and keep doing what you do. To my fellow brothers and sisters in arms I share in your greif and honor your fallen comrades.
Sir, is it possible to see the SF strip also, I’m just curious.
Nicely done Farva, thanks.
Thanks also for now posting the original.
Prayers to the families & friends….
Farva, you have an eloquence in these moments, be it an AWACS, Globemaster, Raptor or airmen in training or in an act of war, that speaks in its simplicity.
Thank you.
Adding our prayers for the families, friends and fellow airmen.
My thoughts and prayers to the family & friends of our fallen brothers in arms
All this Coastie can say is rest in peace my brothers and Favra you know how to express what we all are thinking Bravo Zulu sir.
The last words Robert Duvall spoke in “Broken Trail”
“We are all travelers in this world. From the sweet grass to the packing house, we travel between the eternities.”
May you rest in peace, my brothers.
My heart goes out to their families. I hope they know that their Air Force family is there for them all the way. May God bless them and look out for them through this difficult time.
RIP SrA Alden and A1C Cuddeback. May your families, both at home and extended, find solace in this time of tragedy.
Also, please keep the other two Airmen who are still recovering from their wounds in your thoughts and prayers.
I know this sounds a bit hokey, but my parents always said,”It doesn’t matter what you give, it’s the thought that counts.” So, by mine and my parents standard, you did a heck load more than most. I hope the two injured airmen get better, and no real words can speak for the sorrow of the two we lost.
