Butter Bar: Either is correct. The precise diagram will differ. The end meaning is close enough for government work. The reminder reminds the reminded.
A Good LT I call Sir or Ma’am (If I could ever find one), a Captain always. Oh wait…Fighter Pilot…deduct two grades for mental defiency and ego…Yup…Barbie’s still an LT. With pilots the rank progress like this:
Second Lieutenant
First Lieutenant
Double Lieutenant
Major
Think about the rank insignia, there’s a reason a CPT looks like two 1LTs stuck together.
Well crap, I would have posted a link to Chairforce.com and show the extra Officer Ranks (O-Princess, Senior Captain, etc), but he’s finally started working on the site again, and all the old stuff is unavailable right now.
In the hell hole I work I am surrounded with rank. It is odd to find anything lower than a Major / TSgt here. I actually recieved (and happily signed) paperwork for not standing up when talking to a (S)MSgt select and two Capt’s…My boss is a 2 star, his boss is the 4 star…WTF?
Dont clog your career up with useless “paperwork” like that… go to the base ADC office. (Ariel Defense Council) they’ll get that garbage taken off your record in a heart beat.
When we fixed computers we had this rule, you become an asshole your computer just got moved to the bottom of the que. I find it’s more typical that when talking to the computer guy people ignore your rank, it was odd having a Lt. Col offer me his chair and if I wanted something to drink when I was an A1C working on his computer.
Faced with the “Hey Coffman?” versus “Sargent Coffman!” the tone was set by Barbie, which reminds me, what ever happened to that webcam given Barbie by a subordinate?
We had a Pentagon major like that one day.
I got the entire squadron and sent them past him one-at-a-time.
Each of us had to salute him once, he had to salute every one of us.
I’ve been fortunate not to see many of these types of officers in my career. To me, it reeks of insecurity.
Farva: I sent you ‘stache pix to the email address you indicated, but haven’t received a reply. Just checking to see if there is a connectivity issue, or if you are just dang busy!
He is, and the SOB keeps trying to hook me, too… with varying degrees of success… >.> As to the strip, this is exactly how a conversation with SSgt Coffman happens.
Don’t confuse respect with custom. I’ve always believed you dont’ address people by anything but rank… because you work hard for that and you don’t strip people of their earnings.
That said, some O’s call their subordinates, O and E alike by first names and so on as a matter of course. NCO to whathaveyou… if you really act like this to higher ranking members… (99.99% of you posting her are full of it with bravado) you’re wrong.
I had a LtCol lecture me over the phone b/c I did not once call him “Sir”. I worked help desk at the AF Academy and some guy calls, does not even identify himself and says he can’t get on the internet. I walked him through how to change his proxy settings (I was very respectful in doing so) and he says, “Now for a little feedback, you need to mind your customs and courtesies when you speak to an officer. You helped me wth my problem but you did not once say the word ‘sir’ to me”…I’m like WTF?!?! I got his name, told my supervisor what happened, and he says, “Oh yeah, I talked to that guy before and he did the SAME thing to me and he didn’t even say who he was when I answered!” Geez…
I’ve worked with a few officers that were like that. God forbid you don’t salute them. Oh, and this’ll be my first “First!”
Nice
Zeros need to learn
wow, someone needs to get laid….still.
I have to wonder exactly how Barbie planned on reminding him
Make him drink cold French Vanilla coffee
Barf*
Mach 1.7 over Coffman’s dorm perhaps
Coffman is a SSgt, won’t live in the dorms…and can’t go supersonic over the US except for a few ranges
c’mon man! It was a joke!
“… can’t go supersonic over the US…”
Pfft, like Barbie cares about such trivial details!
SSgt in the dorms is fact at some bases…they yanked a bunch back on base at Yokota recently
Overseas its a fact. Here at Nellis, they are kicking older A1C’s out now to make room for newbies.
A1C is a newbie
…you’re the one who needs *to be* reminded…
luv
yours
Lt “Chief” Pedant
xox
or is that texas speak?
It could be. I have an open mind

Zero pilots are always anal-retentavely rank-minded. Being at Lackland now has actually alleviated that problem for the first time in 14 years… Wow!

Now I prefer these:
ENS
LT(JG)
LT
LCDR
CMDR
CAPT
RADM(LH)
RADM
VADM
ADM
LOLOLOLOL
Though two 1LTs stuck together (STS)… ah never mind DADT is fading into the sunset.
At first I got to Double Lt. And choked on my coffee laughing. THEN I got to the rank insignia crack and spilled the rest of it on my shirt.
I love this strip!
I’ll put a copy in my office, close to the ‘DANGER, NCO’ warning sign.
I have been away from the real AF for 8 years now with joint and R&D assignments. Right now I have a LTCDR that does a pretty good job.

You know what to call a (S)MSgt don’t you?
A MSgt- whether he(or she) likes it or not.
Sorry, managed to confuse myself, yet again. I meant TSgt.

Haha awesome!!

GTFA… Hmmmm would that be the same as GTFOH?
Translated from “di di mau”?
This is how I’ve been for the last year now…
Faced with the “Hey Coffman?” versus “Sargent Coffman!” the tone was set by Barbie, which reminds me, what ever happened to that webcam given Barbie by a subordinate?
Good point Uncle Ferret, I totally agree, respect should be earned not automatic by rank. Also good point about that webcam.
I love the avatar
AF Eng On one side is propriety of accepting a “gift” on the other is a young stalker hoping Leia provides a show…
Beetle, gotta agree, though a certain space station’s security chief looks like a good prospect as an avatar.

It’s definitely the latter. I’ve received some epic ‘stache pics, and am working when I can to get them organized.
you should do a strip about the idiots in congress not paying us…..
Can’t be viewable by the public… or else you might offend someone way above our pay grade…
more emails
I’m pretty familiar with that…
^^ Exactly what I was alluding to.
BAHAHA, love the Member’s Section strip!
You should do a strip where Coffman gets caught playing Minecraft at work. I understand he is quite addicted to it. *trollface*
He is, and the SOB keeps trying to hook me, too… with varying degrees of success… >.> As to the strip, this is exactly how a conversation with SSgt Coffman happens.
lol I was the guy who introduced him to it during Red Flag. WHAT HAVE I DONE?
