Given today’s date and the subject matter of today’s comic, I went with my gut feeling and the little shred of decency I maintain and didn’t make a joke (in the comic title or anywhere thereafter) with the letter (or subsequent repetition of) D. I feel a little ashamed for even mentioning it here.
I just want you to know it would have been very easy.
All joking aside, if ever you’re afforded the opportunity to stand on one of the beaches of Normandy at low tide and look out over the sand, you may just begin to realize what those men faced 67 years ago, and how it took bravery beyond what many of us could ever imagine to even step foot on that shore. Think of them today, and don’t ask yourself if you’d have the testicular fortitude to do what they did in the same situation, but pray to God you never have to.

Do I see a pin-up in the member section future?
I sincerely hope so…
And it had better be SKIMPY!!!!
Let never forget our Greatest Generation.
Regarding Normandy, I had the same reaction when I visited Iwo Jima. The volcanic sands are hard to walk on, without a combat load and enemy fire, and Mount Suribachi is steep. War movies do not come close to doing them justice.
It doesnt have anything to do with D-Day, but if you want a good read about the Pacific Theatre, read “Flyboys” by James Bradley. Good stuff, but be forewarned, its graphic.
Never had the chance to get to Normandy when I was on rote. But I did get the chance to land at Iwo jima for gas when I was in a Herc when we were escorting a C-12 across the pond, when the C-1 needed some gas. Flying around the island was awesome, and taken aback by what the guys went through there.
France wants to put up three wind farms: one 5-10 miles out from the beaches and two on the landing beaches themselves…Omaha and one other.
Seroiusly?!
Really! But teh chum from the seabirds hacked up will feed the fishies
Incorrect. They want to put one 11km off of Juno Beach, where the Canadians landed. Nothing will go directly on any of the invasion beaches.
A terrible idea nonetheless.
Many locals, who are still incredibly grateful for having been liberated, oppose the desecration.

Have never been to Normandy, but have been to the American Cemetery in Luxemburg. It is an impressive site. Patton’s grave sitting at the front of the “troops” is moving.
well said
Have been several times to the beaches of Normandy,
really impressive, each time.
I can tell you this : we French people do not forget.
God Bless all the boys who came to help us on D-Day.
As I like saying in person… PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN
Amen, Farva.
Thanks, Farva.
Those guys were ballsy. Thank God for them.
Those guys did it so that we could live in a free world. Thanks to them, and thanks to you, Farva, and to every one of you in the service for being willing to go to the beaches of Normandy if called on to do so. God Bless you.
I got to participate in a jump at Normandy on the 65th anniversary of D-Day in 2009, it was truly a humbling experience.
I was standing in the Iron Mike DZ for the jump on the 66th. The march in St. Mere Eglise was something else, and the after party… whoo!
EXCLUSIVE? Every dude at the beach will also get an eye full…he’s buying the rights to make some other dudes jealous.
$200? What did he buy her? An N12 3D printed bikini from Shapeways? Yeah, it’s real, google it.
