Ok, before anyone cries foul, I did a little internet research to make sure there were no serious injuries or deaths from yesterday’s quake before making fun of it. I’m no stranger to accusations of insensitivity when it comes to natural disasters.
The story will resume next week. I have my reasons.

Check out this link… I love the picture!

Do a JSTARS comic Farva!!!
Technically it’s Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.. don’t wanna get any Colonels mad now do ya.
Joint STS?
I was like….WHAT? Then I read your comment. Pretty clever.
Thankfully no one was hurt, but everyone was a bit rattled!
It was just a little one anyways. Oh, and love the cover you did for Air Force Times!
I missed the whole thing for the 30 seconds I was driving my HMMWV around the building… seriously. I come in to my SFC (E7 in case you’re not up to snuff) on the phone with a friend in VA. She’s all up in arms about the earthquake. Having been pestered all day about the dang hurricane inbound this weekend, I very adamently remind him that “we’re prepping for a hurricane not an earthquake. We can’t predict earthquakes, now get your stuff done!”
Took us having to look it up on news.google.com to find out what she was crying about… whoops…
I Likes it, live 30 miles from epicenter, trust me, we noticed!!
I thought it was some extra vibrations from the car stereo next to me. I didn’t even know we had an earthquake until two hours later when someone texted my son, then I shocked a cashier by telling him that a 5.9 was no big deal.
However, throw a hurricane at CA and they’ll be freaking out and East Coasters would be laughing at them too.
“However, throw a hurricane at CA and they’ll be freaking out and East Coasters would be laughing at them too.”
Funny thing is, dude ain’t kidding. I’ve had my fair shares of laughs at the west coast’s reactions to hurricanes. As well as a certain few people I knew in basic and tech school.
See, and here I was thinking it was the founding fathers turning over in their graves that caused it.
heh. instead of the yessirie its gusty excuse for a hard landing….
Yes Sir! AF one touched down on schedule, and was not forewarned by any weather service that there was a scheduled earthquake.
Or….. hard landing +- a few minutes of, blame it on!
hard landing STS?
lol, i work downtown DC. people were literally asking ‘is this an earthquake?’ we evacuated and everybody was just milling the streets. you couldn’t get a cell phone call to save your life, and even text messages were failing.
pic 3 is pretty funny, people really were on the street covering their mouths in horror. even worse, people were still taking the elevators down instead of the stairs!
No worse than the suggestion to name the geologic formation the “George Bush Fault” w/o noting Bush 41 or Bush 43…
I heard the earthquake make Pres. Obama to double bogey the 14th hole…just couldn’t get it in…STS
I think it is funny. been in cali for almost five years now (hey if i could get out of here i would in a heartbeat.) and i have never felt an earthquake. seems like everyone in cali is getting upset that people on the west coast don’t know how to act or think they are over exaggerating it.
People just hear earthquake and think of one of the big ones. They don’t understand that there are little ones that are barely noticable too. Much like tropical storms, they sound bad but once you’ve been through one or two you find out it’s just a lot of rain. All it means is PT is going to be inside that day.

dude you are too funny
Got my copy of “The Best of Military Cartoons!” today
I get to watch those “hard” landings on a daily basis out of my office window at “Joint” Base Andrews.
Hahaha! Oh man, I wish we had come up with this gag…
There WAS a casualty. An Irishman in Virginia. Here’s the newsphoto:

The gentlemen at Ranger Up have a shocking video of the earthquake; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni4FOAKexmw
Farva, not sure if this was intended as a recreation of a real event or just a funny scenario that occurred to you, but VC-25 really was landing when the earthquake happened. I was driving away from Andrews and was watching it descend. The earthquake hit just after the plane disappeared from my view behind the trees. I talked with a guy the next day who was out on the flightline during the quake who told me that somebody cracked a “pretty hard landing” joke almost immediately after the ground stopped shaking.
