So, y’all remember last week when I said I had a big change on the horizon and all that? This is it.
For years now I’ve wanted to revive AWACker, my first Air Force comic strip (for those who may not be familiar with it.) I’ve tried a few times to get the ball rolling on it as a totally separate comic, but I’ve found I just don’t have the time. This is a whole new squadron (although it’s actually older than the 809th) with new characters, mostly inspired by the friends I made in my first formative years in the Air Force. The 968th AACS is situated just down the road from the 809th, and as you’ve seen the squadrons interact on a somewhat regular basis. As such, I’m just rolling AWACker into AFBlues. This will also allow me to include so many more career fields into the comic.
The folks who knew me back in my younger days are constantly telling me I need to make our experiences into comics, so here we go. These are our tales. Only some names will be changed, but not to protect the innocent.
No one was innocent.
-Farva

Noice…Spent 11 years total in AK. The only people who bitched regularly were Texans.
AK is my home, plus I spent three years assigned to Elmendorf. We had the same problem with the Texans back then. Our solution: we threatened to split Alaska into TWO states, making Texas the THIRD largest state. (It usually shut ‘em up pretty quick.)
Outstanding!!! However, is/are there any archived comics from the old AWACker days. I first started reading them on Chairforce.com and curious what happened to them all?
Cool beans … and right on the heels of seeing two AWACS at Boeing Field in Seattle to boot!
On a side note…did you see the worst song of the 90′s according to Rolling Stone? CPT Dahl ain’t gonna agree!

I thought the same thing when I saw that article.
Alaska may be more land than Texas, but as Farva knows, we have many more people, airplanes, and guns!
this should prove interesting!
“No one was innocent.” I love it already! haha
Ha… “no one was innocent.” You got that right.
Yes but Alaska won’t be bigger after it melts.
Hey, how about one about Herk drivers…we never get any love
Herk drivers? Only thing I liked about Herk drivers was when they picked me up some breakfast at base Ops while I was doing the -1 preflight, helping the load load when needed, and getting the TOLD data done, at 0-dark-30 on some cold blistering morning…. Oh and trying to stay out of the way of the de-icing truck’s spray.
There was some love for the Hercs… http://www.afblues.com/wordpress/2007/08/06/08062007/

Those are the one’s I can think of… could be more, just look through the archives!
There was a whole Herk storyline a few years back, during Barbie’s deployment to Kamel Air Base.
no love for us space guys though i guess?
OMG! This is gonna be fun!!!
Can’t wait for the new stuff mixed with the old.
As an older wackier 1979-1992. I can appreciate all this.
Uncle Jesse? You wrote the book on being a ‘wacker.
I don’t see how you don’t have time for another comic. You only do AFBues, Box D Blues, and one for the AF Times.
Anyways I’m glad you’re adding some more characters to the mix and don’t burn yourself out. You seem to have a lot on your plate.
So, any Comm Techs ;D
Yah, What about us comm guys?
Does the CSO even count?
‘Barbie Girl’ Tops Rolling Stone’s Worst Songs of the ’90s

Just say’n
Hit me up if you need reminders on things, I was usually the only somewhat sober one those days after all.
Australia used to have a cattle station that was bigger that Texas. Station is the Australian name for a farm. Some rich Texans with issues bought it, split it into three and put into the sale deeds that it couldn’t be put back together. This was done in the 1970s I think.
