There’s a new member’s strip up. Hope y’all like it.
So, one of my other hobbies, other than cartooning, is playing the banjo. In England’ that’s a “so-to-speak” moment. There’s a funny story to that which I’ll tell in a second. Anyway, I finally got around to uploading some videos to YouTube, and here’s one of ‘em.
So back when I was a DJ on one of the local radio stations here, I was wrapping up my show and told my co-host I was going home to play with my banjo. After I signed off, I was told if I ever said anything like that on the air again I could be facing a lawsuit. Long story short, it turns out “banjo” is slang over here for something it would be completely inappropriate for me to tell my listeners I was going home to play with. Giggity.

makes ya wonder
lol. love the new members strip farva
I’m guessing Barbie is going to be playing a lot of banjo in the next few weeks
great, both strips, sts, and the vid.
many years ago I tried to get rid of a banjo so I left it in my unlocked car where it could be seen. When I returned , my car was gone and three banjos were in the lot where i left my car.
I have to disagree with the members strip.
Definately not a cougar.
All the wrinkles it has…
2/3rds of the body sags…
Have you seen how much it smokes?
There is the 4 letter nick-name – a real winner!
And for the finale… Crew who fly it… and their fathers flew it.. And some had their grandfathers fly it too. WHen 3 generations have that much time in it… Ewww
There is NO WAY IN HELL it is a Demi Moore
Absolutely a $10 trailer park hooker
Farva, I think somebody was pulling your leg with the banjo thing. I’m British and I have never heard of it being used as slang for the w-word. Hell a quick search of British slangs turned up this.
Banjo; Verb. To hit or punch. [Scottish use]
Noun. 1. A sandwich, particularly one that contains sauce type condiment or other runny ingredient that may spill onto one’s clothes, for example egg banjo (fried egg sandwich).
2. A shovel. [Orig. Aust.]
Just out of interest, what radio station was it?
As much as I hate to admit it, Zack FM. The station owner is American, though, but the manager is British. They both confronted me as soon as I walked out of the booth. Funny enough, some family friends back in Texas had a little boy, and that was the term they used as well.
That said, check out this site: http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/b.htm
It’s got the same definitions, but if you scroll down a few to banjo string… LOL.
Fair dues, though it doesn’t seem to be all that common….might be a Suffolk thing for all I know. I’m a Norfolk lad, so whatever they up to south of the border is their business.
Wouldn’t surprise me, change states in the US and you’ll find completely different slang terms. Hell we can’t even decide on the proper word for a soda. Coke, Pop, Soda, Cola, and even more depending on where you wander too.
Here I thought stuff like that wasnt taboo to talk about over there…
PBS just showed a special here about the banjo, hosted by Steve Martin. It was a pretty good show.
Well, I hope his parents have another bedroom… or Barbie’s on the couch.
Hmmm, they also take issue with fanny pack and the familiar for Randall…
Barbie better not screw this one up…
ACES II, the thrust you trust!
Given Barbies lack of slap marks of his face and general scared/shocked expression, I’m voting he said “Of course I want to”. Now the planning will go forward but at some point Kelly will call it off. So Farva you know the Jed Ballad now get busy on the Deliverance duet! Not sure if you can pull off that 5 tooth sunken eye look though.
there’s nothing wrong with the BUFF haha. My dad was a crew chief on em while my mom was a specialist (crew chiefs arn’t supposed to talk to specialist outside of work let alone marry them ;] ) hahah. Anyways that’s a possible job I would like – crew chief hopefully on BUFFS, or TACP
On the closeup video, the way the video is encoded where it saves size by repeating (or trying to) bits of each frame that don’t change, makes the head of the banjo look like it’s writhing around a bit – almost alive… Be careful it doesn’t try to eat your hand.
Just an out of the blue question, what do you folks in the air force (USAF or other countries) think of the aircraft designs in the five episode anime OAV “Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze”? (Literal translation = Battle Fairy Snowy Wind)
I ran into a few Britishisms during my time over there….
You would also best be advised not to “put something in your fanny pack”, as a “fanny” is on the opposite side – of a female.
I found that one out not-quite-the-hard-way.
Similarly, you also wouldn’t want to copy the commercial and say, “Nice pants”, since pants are the UNDERgarment.
Those things on the outside are trousers.
I’ve always wondered what would happen to the Brit who got off a plane in New York City or San Francisco and asked someone if they had a spare fag..
(A “fag” is British slang for a cigarette…)
